Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 6.40 to Rs 1,204.20 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid sluggish spot market demand.

Increased arrivals from major producing centre of Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh put pressure on mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December lost Rs 6.40, or 0.51%, to Rs 1,204.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 14 lots.

The October contract shed Rs 6, or 0.50%, to Rs 1,190 per kg in 91 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels amid subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
