Nickel falls by 0.4% on muted demand
A weakening trend at the domestic spot markets also affected prices
Press Trust of India New Delhi Taking weak cues from domestic spot market due to muted demand, nickel prices dropped 0.37% to Rs 677 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed their bets.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October was trading Rs 2.50, or 0.37%, down at Rs 677 per kg in a business turnover of 444 lots.
The metal for delivery in November also shed Rs 2.10, or 0.31%, to Rs 684 per kg in a turnover of 35 lots.
Analysts said the fall in nickel prices in futures trade is mostly attributed to a weakening trend at the domestic spot markets due to easing demand from alloy-makers but metal's strength overseas, limited the losses.
