Amid rising demand from alloy- makers and a firming trend overseas, nickel prices moved up by Rs 2.50 to Rs 821 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in June rose Rs 2.50, or 0.24%, to Rs 821 per kg in business turnover of 854 lots.

Similarly, nickel for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 1.60, or 0.16%, to Rs 827.70 per kg in 96 lots.

Market analysts said besides strong demand from alloy- makers at domestic spot markets, a firm global trend mainly led to rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
