The NSE Nifty has neared the 5,000-mark, and is now up 51 points at 4,996.
Among the Nifty stocks - Reliance Infrastructure has surged over 3% to Rs 1,294. Tata Communications has gained 2.4% at Rs 475.
SBI, Cipla and Bharti Airtel have rallied 2% each to Rs 2,068, Rs 293 and Rs 343, respectively.
Maruti, Infosys, TCS, Reliance Communications and Reliance are the other major gainers.
On the other hand, Hero Honda has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 1,646. Gail is down nearly 1% at Rs 382.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex is up 176 points at 16,818. The market breadth too is bullish, with 1,537 advancing shares to 843 declining stocks.
