Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) on Tuesday surged 5.07 per cent to close at Rs 1,586 after the company said it had bagged a Rs 990-crore order from the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam for setting up a 500-MW thermal power plant in Rajasthan.

Bhel has earlier supplied thermal sets totalling 2,750 MW to the Rajasthan corporation in the past. The stock hit an intra-day high of Rs 1,621 and a low of Rs 1,430. The total shares that changed hands on BSE were 6,23,413 vis-à-vis two-week average of 5,25,806 shares.
