Reliance Communications has gained 1.7% at Rs 98.3 in early trades over reports that the company, in a consortium led by IT firm HCL Infosystems, is believed to have bagged the Rs 300 crore contract from that the Unique Identification Authority of India for the government's national identity card programme, Aadhaar.
According to sources, Anil Ambani-led RCom will provide network and telecom support for Aadhar as part of a consortium led by HCL Infosystems.
Value of the contract carried out by RComm is expected to be in the range of Rs 200 crore to Rs 300 crore, sources said.
The scrip opened at Rs 97 and has so far, touched the day's high at Rs 98.7. Around 914,355 shares had changed hands on the BSE counter, till 0950 hours.
