The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 7,697, and is now down 442 points at 8,259.

Reliance Communications and Wipro have slumped 16% each to Rs 162 and Rs 198, respectively.

Tata Motors has tumbled over 15% to Rs 138. Jaiprakash Associates has shed 14.6% at Rs 51.

DLF and Grasim have dropped over 14% each to Rs 175 and Rs 906, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel are down 10% each at Rs 259 and Rs 161, respectively.

The Sensex after a releatively subdued start, is fast sliding down on the back of relentless selling in the market. The index has now tumbled below the 8,000-mark, and is now down 935 points at 7,766. In the process, the index is down a whopping 63% from its peak of 21,207 touched in January.

The BSE FMCG index has collapsed 14.7% to 1,552, and the Metal index has crashed almost 13% to 3,832. The Realty and Power indices have tumbled around 12% each at 1,531 and 1,281, respectively.

DLF has slumped 21.5% to Rs 160, and Jaiprakash Associates has tumbed 20% to Rs 48.

Wipro has crumbled 18.5% to Rs 192, and Hindustan Unilever has crashed 17.5% to Rs 185.

ONGC, Grasim and Reliance Communications have shed around 16.5% each at Rs 549, Rs 878 and Rs 162, respectively.

Tata Motors has tumbled over 15% to Rs 138. ITC and Stertlite have slipped over 14.5% each to Rs 136 and Rs 178, respectively.

SBI has dropped 14% to Rs 994. Tata Steel, Tata Power and Satyam have declined over 13% each to Rs 155, Rs 542 and Rs 249, respectively.

 Elsewhere in Asia, the Hang Seng has tumbled over 12% (1,531 points) to 11,088. The Nikkei ended with a loss of 6.4% (486 points) at 7,163.
