Red all around, Sensex below 16K

After a minor recovery of 100-odd points from the day's low of 15,790, the Sensex has once again slipped a bit, and is now at 15,873, down 351 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,739, down 106 points.

Tata Steel and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 3.5% each to Rs 558 and Rs 126, respectively.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, DLF and Hindalco have declined 3% to Rs 669, Rs 804, Rs 312 and Rs 142, respectively.

ONGC, SBI, BHEL, HDFC Bank, ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined 2-3% each.

Some of the other prominent losers included Sterlite, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, TCS and Infosys.

The BSE midcap and the small cap indices are down 3% each.

All the sectoral indices are in red. The realty index has slipped 4% to 3,264. Metal, bankex and auto indices are down 2.5% each.

The Asian markets are all down 2-3% each following weak cues from the US markets.
