Sensex down 170pts; Reliance Infra up 2.5%

The Sensex today opened 20 points flat at 14,503 owing to mixed cues from the global markets.The index  slipped to a low of 14,451 after which it rebounded  to touch a high of 14,571

However the index failed to hold gains and slipped back into the red. The index is now  at 14,352, down 172 points.

Reliance Infrastructure has advanced 2.5% to Rs 1,295. Hindalco and Tata Motors have added 2% each  to Rs 96 and Rs 331, respectively.

SBI, DLF, Ranbaxy and Tata Power are up over 1.5% each at Rs 1,694, Rs 339 and Rs 282, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, Sterlite, Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and TCS have advanced over 1% each.

ACC has slipped 3% to Rs 800. Grasim and HDFC Bank have dropped 2% to Rs 2,270 and Rs 1,516, respectively.
