Sensex down over 140pts; Sterlite slips 5%

The Sensex today opened 42 points lower at 15,196. The index touched a low of 15,036 and is now at 15,094, down 143 points.

Sterlite has slipped 5% to Rs 681.

Jaiprakash Associates has dropped 3.5% to Rs 206.

Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel and DLF have declined over 2% each to Rs 1,542, Rs 348, Rs 766, Rs 446 and Rs 361, respectively.

Tata Motors, Grasim, Reliance Infrastructures, Reliance, Reliance Communications, HDFC, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, NTPC and Maruti are down 1-2% each.

Infosys, Ranbaxy and Wipro on the other hand are up 1-1.5% each
