Sensex firm; Tata Steel soars 8%

The Sensex continues to display firm trend, and is now up 218 points at 9,908.

The Sensex opened 132 points higher at 9,822, and is now up 225 points at 9,915.

Grasim and Hindalco have soared 9% each to Rs 1,170 and Rs 58, respectively. Tata Steel has zoomed 8% to Rs 235.

Sterlite has surged 5% to Rs 308. DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank have rallied 4.5% each to Rs 289, Rs 306 and Rs 430, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, ONGC, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC Bank have moved up 3.5% each to Rs 671, Rs 669, Rs 87 and Rs 951, respectively.

Tata Motors and SBI have advanced 2.7% each to Rs 158 and Rs 1,247, respectively. Larsen & Toubro has added 2.4% to Rs 806.

Bharti Airtel, TCS, Satyam and ACC are up 2% each at Rs 738, Rs 492, Rs 225 and Rs 504, respectively.

Reliance Communications, however, has slipped over 2% to Rs 244.
