Sensex flat again; HDFC down 4%

The Sensex is once again almost flat at 9,836 - up four points - after having erased all its gains. Earlier in the day, the index opened 38 points lower at 9794, and touched a low of 9,790. The index, thereafter, had moved up to a high of 9,931.

ONGC has soared 4% to Rs 700. Tata Motors has surged 3.5% to Rs 164.

TCS has rallied over 2% to Rs 480. Infosys and NTPC have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,121 and Rs 171, respectively.

Ranbaxy and ACC are up around 1.5% each at Rs 217 and Rs 520, respectively.

Sterlite has slumped over 6% to Rs 288. HDFC has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 1,549.

Reliance Infrastructure, DLF and Mahindra & Mahindra have plunged 3% each to Rs 633, Rs 272 and Rs 294, respectively.

Maruti has shed 2.3% at Rs 497. Reliance Communications has declined 2% to Rs 234.

Tata Steel has dropped 1.4% to Rs 224. Bharti Airtel is down 1% at Rs 730.
