Sensex flat in early trades; TCS up 2%

The Sensex opened 38 points lower at 9794. The index touched a low of 9,791, and soon rebounded and touched a high of 9,872. The Sensex is now almost flat at 9,812 - down 20 points.

Hindalco has surged 2.3% to Rs 57. TCS has gained 2% at Rs 479.

Ranbaxy and Satyam have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 217 and Rs 229, respectively.

Infosys, Wipro and ACC have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 1,116, Rs 238 and Rs 520, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, SBI and ONGC are up over 1% each at Rs 830, Rs 1,218 and Rs 680, respectively.

Sterlite has plunged over 3% to Rs 298. Reliance Infrastructure has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 641.

Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 1.7% at Rs 298. Reliance Communications, Tata Motors, HDFC and Bharti Airtel are down over 1% each at Rs 236, Rs 156, Rs 1,594 and Rs 730, respectively.
