Sensex near day's high

The Sensex is now at 16,962, up 85 points.  The Nifty is at 5055- up 22 points.

The Sensex is gyrating between zone owing to alternative bouts of buying and selling. The index is now flat at 16,879, up two points.

The BSE IT index continues to lead the list of gainers, up 1% at 5,002.

Tata Motors has soared 3% to Rs 707. Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced around 2% each to Rs 322 and Rs 1,035, respectively.

Sun Pharma, TCS, HDFC Bank, Wipro and Infosys have added over 1% each.

On the other hand Jaiprakash Associates and Hindustan Unilever are down 1% each at Rs 219 and Rs 263, respectively.

The market breadth has turned positive, out of 2,731 shares traded, 1,377 have advanced and 1,275 have declined so far on the BSE.
