Sensex off day's high; Realty index rallies

The Sensex is flat at 15,373. The Nifty is at 4,580 - up eight points.

The Sensex touched a high of 15,463 - up 222 points from the day's low. The index is off the day's high and is now at 15,406 - up 31 points.

Among the sectoral indices, the BSE realty index has surged 4.5% to 4,087.

Tata Motors has soared 10% to Rs 414. Reliance Infrastructure and DLF have surged 4.5% each to Rs 1,217 and Rs 430, respectively.

Reliance Communications has gained 3% at Rs 291. ITC, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and Mahindra & Mahindra have added 2% each.

Sterlite, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Power, ONGC, Jaiprakash Associates, ACC, Tata Steel and Sun Pharma are the other gainers.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank continues to languish in red. The stock is down 1.5% at Rs 746.

Infosys, Reliance, HDFC Bank and SBI are down around 1% each.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2,645 stocks traded 1,731 have advanced while 832 have declined.

The Nifty surged to a high of 4,600. The index is now up 10 points at 4,582.

Siemens, Ambuja Cements, NTPC and Power Grid Corporation have gained while Cairn India, Jindal Steel and Gail India have slipped on the NSE.
