Sensex off day's high; up 137pts

The Sensex has come off from the day's high and has shed 219 points from an intraday peak of 14,907 on profit booking. The index is now at 14,762, up 137 points.

The BSE Realty and the Metal indices have added over 3% each at 3,950 and 11,215, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates have surged 7.5% to Rs 223. NTPC have advanced 5.6% to Rs 227.

Tata Steel is up 4.5% at Rs 425.

Reliance Communications, Hindalco ,Sterlite and HDFC have advanced 3-4% each at Rs 318, Rs 88, Rs 644 and Rs 2,261, respectively.

ACC, Grasim, DLF, Sunpharma, Wipro, Reliance Infrastructures, ITC, Infosys and Maruti have added 1-3% each.

Bharti Airtel has plunged 3% to Rs 796. ICICI Bank has dropped 1.5% to Rs 729.

Ranbaxy, TCS and HDFC are the other losers so far.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,539 shares traded, 1,922 have advanced and 559 have declined so far on the BSE.
