The Sensex after touching a high of 9,236 has pared gains and is now up 198 points at 9,135.
Sterlite has soared 6.5% to Rs 232. Mahindra & Mahindra, DLF and Maruti have surged around 6% each to Rs 319, Rs 238 and Rs 543, respectively.
Reliance, Ranbaxy and ACC have rallied 5% each to Rs 1,199, Rs 223 and Rs 425, respectively.
ITC, HDFC Bank and BHEL have gained over 4% each at Rs 168, Rs 955 and Rs 1,319, respectively.
Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates and Grasim have moved up nearly 4% each to Rs 171, Rs 71 and Rs 1,012, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure, Hindalco and Reliance Communications are up around 3.5% each at Rs 492, Rs 55 and Rs 217, respectively.
Satyam has slipped 2.5% to Rs 236.
