Sensex rebounds; ONGC up 6%, Ranbaxy down 9%

The NSE Nifty is up 55 points at 4,104.

ONGC has soared 5.8% to Rs 898. Reliance Infrastructre and Tata Steel have surged 4.8% each to Rs 840 and Rs 698, respectively.

NPTC has gained 4.4% at Rs 169. SBI has rallied over 4% to Rs 1,273.

Larsen & Toubro has advanced 3.6% to Rs 2,442, and Maruti has added 3.3% to Rs 583.

Jaiprakash Associates, Ambuja Cements and Tata Motors are up around 3% each at Rs 161, Rs 83 and Rs 412, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slumped 9.3% to Rs 482.

Infosys has tumbled 5.5% to Rs 1,585, and Satyam has plunged 5.2% to Rs 421. TCS has shed nearly 2% at Rs 784.

HDFC has dropped 2.7% to Rs 1,946. HDFC Bank has declined 2% to Rs 1,045.

BHEL is down 1.4% at Rs 1,500.

Out of 2,489 stocks traded so far, 1,288 have declined, 1,140 have advanced and 61 are unchanged.
