Mirroring weak cues from the overseas markets, the Sensex opened with a negative gap of 214 points at 10,765. The index, however, has recovered partially and is now down 89 points at 10,891.
Sterlite and ICICI Bank have plunged over 4% each to Rs 382 and Rs 409, respectively.
Sun Pharma has shed 2.7% at Rs 1,151. Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have dropped over 2% each to Rs 865, Rs 683 and Rs 241, respectively.
Tata Steel and DLF have also slipped 2% each to Rs 258 and Rs 226, respectively.
ONGC and SBI have declined nearly 2% each to Rs 847 and Rs 1,272, respectively.
Hindalco has surged over 2% to Rs 55. Bharti Airtel has gained 1.5% at Rs 699.
Grasim, ITC and NTPC are up around 1% each.
