Sensex slips deeper into red; breadth -ve

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red and is now down 229 points at 14,888.

The NSE Nifty is down 58 points at 4,466.

Jaiprakash Associates has plunged nearly 4% to Rs 180.

Grasim and Satyam have shed 2.8% each at Rs 2,031 and Rs 405, respectively.

ICICI Bank has tumbled 2.5% to Rs 691. BHEL, DLF and SBI have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 1,733, Rs 542 and Rs 1,490, respectively.

Infosys and Wipro have slipped 2% each to Rs 1,685 and Rs 440, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, TCS, ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined 1.7% each to Rs 1,006, Rs 836, Rs 628 and Rs 566, respectively.

ONGC has surged nearly 4% to Rs 1,063. Sterlite has gained 1.8% at Rs 625.

Tata Power and Tata Steel are up 1% each at Rs 1,060 and Rs 650, respectively.

Out of 2,495 stocks traded so far, 1,375 have declined, 1,047 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
