Sensex slips into -ve;down 31pts

The Sensex has slipped into the negative zone to a low of 14,338, down 240 points from the day's high. The index is now down 31 points at 14,391.

The benchmark index opened at 14,476, up 54 points and soon touched a high of 14,5778. After which the sensex is on a choppy movement. It touched a low of 14,431 nearing noon. The index continues to be  volatile before trading into negative terrain.

Tata Motors plummeted over 4% at Rs 342.

Mahindra & Mahindra and ONGC have dropped 3% each to Rs 701 and Rs 1,022, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki has declined over 2% to Rs 1,037.

Tata Steel has shed 1.5% to Rs 400.

Hindustan Unilever and NTPC are down 1% each to Rs 260 and Rs 197, respectively.

HDFC, Grasim and ICICI Bank have advanced nearly 3% each to Rs 2,381, Rs 2,386 and Rs 708, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, ACC and Reliance Communications have gained nearly 2% each at Rs 218, Rs 784 and Rs 307, respectively.

Hindalco and DLF are also up nearly 2% each at RS 85 and Rs 326, respectively.

Infosys and  Sterlite have added 1.5% each at Rs 1,786 and Rs  580, respectively.
