Sensex up 150pts in opening trades

Continuing from its yesterday's pullback and strong vibes from global markets, the Sensex opened this morning with a positive gap of 110 points at 17,069.

The index is now up 99 points at 17,057.

The NSE Nifty is up 31 points at 5,059.

Sterlite has surged nearly 4% to Rs 803. Hindalco has gained 3% at Rs 129, and Tata Steel has added 2% to Rs 521.

HDFC Bank has advanced 2% to Rs 1,693. Larsen & Toubro, Sun Pharma, Reliance Communications and BHEL are the other prominent gainers.

Infosys and TCS have shed 2.4% each at Rs 2,255 and Rs 599, respectively.
