The Sensex opened 132 points higher at 9,822, and is now up 208 points at 9,898.
Grasim and Hindalco have soared nearly 6% each to Rs 1,137 and Rs 56, respectively.
Tata Steel has surged over 5% to Rs 229. ICICI Bank and Sterlite have rallied nearly 5% each to Rs 431 and Rs 307, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 4.5% at Rs 306. DLF has advanced over 4% to Rs 288.
Jaiprakash Associates and TCS are up 3.5% each at Rs 87 and Rs 499, respectively.
Reliance Communications, however, has slipped 2% to Rs 244.
