The Sensex has recovered some of its losses and is now exhibiting volatility. The index is now at 14,832, up 207 points.
The breadth is positive, out of 2,732 shares traded, 2,116 have advanced and 572 have declined so far on the BSE.
The BSE Metal and the Realty index are up 3.5% each at 11,259 and 3,946, respectively.
The Mid-cap has soared 2.5% to 5,184 and the Small cap index is up 2.7% at 6,152,
Jaiprakash Associates and NTPC have soared around 6.5% each at Rs 221 and Rs 229, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Tata Steel have added 5.2% each at Rs 322 and Rs 428, respectively.
Grasim and Sterlite have gained 4% each at Rs 2,199 and Rs 648, respectively.
ITC, Wipro, HDFC and Infosys are up 3.5% each at Rs 190, Rs 395, Rs 2,263 and Rs 1,657, repectively.
Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, ACC, Reliance Infrastructures, Sun Pharma and DLF are the other major gainers.
BHEL and ICICI Bank have slipped 2% each to Rs 2,129 and Rs 726, respectively.
