Sensex up 256pts; HDFC Bank, Tata Steel bounce back

The Sensex is now up 265 points at 14,056.

The NSE Nifty is up 59 points at 4,249.

HDFC Bank has rallied 4.5% to Rs 1,076. Tata Steel has surged 3.5% to Rs 605.

ICICI Bank, Reliance Infrastrucutre and Jaiprakash Associates have advanced over 3% each to Rs 627, Rs 937 and Rs 158, respectively.

Tata Power has gained nearly 3% at Rs 1,073, and BHEL has added 2.7% to Rs 1,635.

Ranbaxy, Larsen & Toubro and HDFC have added 2.3% each to Rs 486, Rs 2,606 and Rs 2,155, respectively.

NTPC has dropped 3% to Rs 173.
