Sensex up 96pts in early trades

The Sensex opened up 69 points at 14,591 on positive global cues and touched a high of 14,662.

The index is now up 96 points at 14,618.

Reliance Communication has surged 3% to Rs 315. BHEL, Reliance Infrastructure and Larsen & Toubro have gained over 2% each to Rs 2,129, Rs 1,283 and Rs 1,520, respectively.

ICICI Bank, DLF, Jaiprakash Associates, ITC, Sterlite and Tata Motors have added 1% each.

ONGC has slipped 2.5% to Rs 985. Sun Pharma and NTPC have dropped 1% each to Rs 1,301 and Rs 196, respectively.
