Sugar remains weak on lower offtake

Sugar prices weakened further at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today due to fall in demand from retailers and stockists, coupled with ample stock position. 

Medium sugar (M-30) moved down by Rs 7/10 per quintal to Rs 2,821/2,901 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,828/2,911.

Small sugar quality (S-30) also edged down by Rs 5/10 per quintal to Rs 2,781/2,815 as compared to Rs 2,786/2,825.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,781/2,815 (Rs 2,786/ 2,825) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,821/2,901 (Rs 2,828/2,911)
