Tata Steel touched a high of Rs 538 - up 4%. The stock ended with a gain of 3.5% at Rs 535. Around 2.82 million shares changed hands at the counter on the BSE today.

Tata Steel is trading firm at Rs 531, up 2.8% or Rs 14.5 on the BSE on the back of strong sales growth in the second quarter.
The company reported a 19% rise in sales to 14.56 lakh tonnes in the second quarter compared with 12.20 lakh tonnes in the previous corresponding period.
'Tata Steel completed the second quarter and first half of FY'10 on a buoyant note with a considerable increase in its production and sales volume as compared to the corresponding period last year," the company said in a statement here today.
The stock has hit a high of Rs 532 and alow of Rs 520 thus far, accompanied with trading volumes of 8,50,940 shares.
