Telecom stocks rally as govt clears spectrum sharing

Telecom sharing will help resolve call drop issues and aid expansion without acquiring additional spectrum

Shares of mobile service providers gained after the government permitted spectrum sharing between a move that could resolve the issue of call drops and improve efficiency in their respective telecom circles.

With spectrun sharing mobile service providers will now be able to share their spare spectrum with other services in the same circle in the same band.

Spectrum sharing will help mobile service providers to improve quality of services, efficiency of their spectrum and aid expansion without buying additional spectrum through auction.

At 9:45AM, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications were up 1.2-2.5% each.
