Turmeric futures prices fell by 1.77% to Rs 7,766 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators booked profits amid a weak trend at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for July delivery fell by Rs 140, or 1.77%, to Rs 7,766 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,675 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August declined by Rs 130, or 1.16%, to Rs 7,702 per quintal, with a trade turnover of 4,810 lots.

Analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators along with subdued demand in the spot market mainly led to the fall in turmeric futures prices.
