TVS Motor gains on bike launch in Tanzania

The motorbike StaR HLX 125 is specially designed to suit riding conditions in African Continent

Shares of TVS Motor Company were up nearly 2% at Rs 147 after the company said it has launched a new motorcycle, StaR HLX 125, specially designed to suit riding conditions in African Continent.

The motor cycle, with the company's 125cc EcoThrust engine, would provide best financial returns for boda boda riders, motor cycle taxi in Tanzania, the company said in a release

The product facilitates superior pickup while delivering lower fuel consumption and it comes with a maximum power of 11 bhp (8.2 KW) at 800 rpm and offers a fuel economy of 60 kilometers to the litre, it added.

TVS Motor, the flagship company of $7 billion TVS Group, has presence in more than 60 countries across the globe and currently exports its StaR range, Max range, Victor range, Apache RTR 160, Apache RTR 180 and Jive to African Markets.

The stock opened at Rs 145.50 and touched a high of Rs 150.30 on the BSE so far. Over 1.9 million shares were traded so far on the BSE and NSE.
