Ukraine halts India shipment

A shipment from Ukraine, containing about 50,000 tonne wheat and destined for India, has been held back after the government there restricted wheat exports. The Projects Equipment Corporation (PEC) had contracted this wheat on behalf of private traders.

"We had contracted import of about 1.5 lakh tonne wheat from Ukraine. Of this, we have already received 1 lakh tonne. We would try to put pressure on the suppliers there to honour their commitments," said a PEC official.
