The bourses opened steady and went on to wind up the week at slightly lower levels.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex closed at 3115.44 (1.35 points lower) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty ended the day at 1000.60 (down 2.10 points).
The market breadth was negative with the advances to declines on the two exchanges combined standing at 843:1120.

Traded volume on the BSE was at Rs 867 crore, while on the NSE, it stood at Rs 2,052 crore.
The capitalisation of the market breadth was also negative with the numbers being Rs 977 crore:Rs 1,886 crore on the BSE and the NSE, respectively.
The Nifty is now making lower bottoms and tops on the short-term charts, which is indicative of bearishness.
