A 16-year-old boy went on a stabbing rampage at a high school near Pittsburgh on Wednesday morning, stabbing 21 students before being taken into custody.
The suspect has been identified as Alex Hribal, a student at Franklin Regional Senior High School.
The boy has been charged with four counts of attempted homicide, 21 counts of aggravated assault and one count of possessing a prohibited weapon on school property, according to a criminal complaint released by the Westmoreland County District Attorney's office.
According to Fox News, Westmoreland County Sheriff Jonathan Held described Hribal as quiet, adding that the teenager had not been talking to authorities since he was taken into custody. He was jailed without bail.
At a late afternoon press conference, Murrysville Police Chief Thomas Seefeld said the suspect had been armed with two eight-to-ten inch straight knives.
