1MBD funds 'were donations', says Malaysian anti-corruption agency
Malaysia's anti-corruption agency has issued a clarification on the state investment fund controversy surrounding Prime Minister Najib Razak, by saying these funds were donations.
According to BBC, the anti-corruption agency neither disclosed the names of the donors nor the purpose of the donations.
Opposition parties and activists have accused Najib of using his position to influence the multiple investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD) that was set up by him in 2009.
The investigation was being conducted into the alleged transfer of nearly 700 million dollars from the debt-ridden fund, 1MBD, by the Malaysian Prime Minister into his personal account.
Najib has denied the allegations saying he is the victim of 'political sabotage', but the scam has triggered calls for his resignation.
