A suicide blast in the port city of Chabahar killed two and left 28 injured on Thursday.
Quoting Mohammad-Hadi Marashi, the Deputy Governor General of Sistan-Baluchestan Province for Security-Disciplinary Affairs, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the police blocked an explosive-laden van from driving into the police headquarters here on Thursday morning, leading to the suicide-bomber blowing himself up.
Mohammad Naseh, the head of the Medical Emergency Center at Iranshahr Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health-Medicare Services, confirmed that two people had died, while 28 were injured in the unfortunate incident.
Out of the injured, three are in a grave condition and are being provided with medical treatment.
The state news agency reported that a group named 'Ansar al-Forghan' have claimed responsibility for the attack. The reason behind the suicide bombing is not known yet.
The official figures of the dead and wounded are yet to be released, while the authorities are yet to confirm if policemen lost their lives in the incident.
