2 UK students set new world record by canoeing across ten countries

Two University of Warwick graduates have set the world record of canoeing almost 3,000 miles across Europe covering ten countries.

James Warner-Smith and Nathan Wilkins, completed the epic 21-week journey, started from Nantes, France and finished their journey in Istanbul, Turkey in 146 days, the Daily Star reported.

The pair crossed ten countries on their way in their 1,500 pounds 'Mad River Reflection 17' vessel.

Wilkins, who is from Kent, said that it was a very long trip but a great experience and he really enjoyed it, despite not going through much training.

Smith, who is from Hertfordshire, said that they had to out of direction many times to stay on the water, and that the route they undertook consisted of network of rivers and canals with hundreds of miles to battle upstream.
