After getting nominated in 11 categories, Kendrick Lamar took home his first Grammy on Monday. He won the award for the Best Rap Album for his hit album, 'To Pimp a Butterfly.'
The 28-year-old rapper beat J. Cole's '2014 Forest Hills Drive,' Nicki Minaj's 'The Pinkprint,' Dr. Dre's 'Compton' and Drake's 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late' to win the Grammy Award, reports E! Online.
Lamar also received a shoutout from President Barack Obama on Twitter after his victory.
Obama wrote, "Shoutout to @KendrickLamar and all the artists at the #Grammys working to build a brighter future. #MyBrothersKeeper."
The rapper also scooped up awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his song 'Alright' along with Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for 'These Walls.'
Lamar's collaboration with Taylor Swift in 'Bad Blood' also won the award for 'Best Music Video.'
The 58th annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 15.
