63 seconds of applause to honour late Hughes' final unbeaten score in first India-Oz Test

A series of tributes would reportedly be held before the opening ball of the first Test between India and Australia is bowled at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday, with teams and spectators to be asked to stand for 63 seconds of applause in line with late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes' final unbeaten score.

A grieving Australian squad would take to the field for the first time since the tragic passing of former Test batsman Hughes with a strong determination to honour the memory of their little mate, who passed away on November 27 after being hit by a bouncer two days ago, News.com.au reported.

Both the Australian and Indian squads would stand before a large number '408' painted on the Oval's playing surface as they watch a video tribute to Hughes narrated by former Test captain and legendary cricket commentator Richie Benaud.

Following the video tribute, the team and spectators would reportedly be asked to stand for 63 seconds of applause, in line with Hughes' final unbeaten score.

The Australian players and management would also wear the late batsman's Test cap number 408 on their shirts, along with black armbands.

Cricket Australia chief executive officer James Sutherland said that it was important to honour a modest hero who won an enduring place in their hearts.
