A new study has found that men who are either too short or too tall, are so bothered about 'how tall they were' that it could even lead to depression.
Valery Krupnik from the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, California, and Mariya Cherkasova of the University of British Columbia analysed the records of 196 men who were diagnosed with depression at a mental health clinic for active duty workforce, and found that men who were shorter or taller than the average faced higher rates of developing depression, the Daily Express reported.
According to the researchers, the individuals, who were taken as "highly dominant", might hold overinflated expectations of their performance and success, which could make them more vulnerable to instances of defeat.
They suggested that psychology programmes implementation in school could help in developing higher resilience in order to deal with the social pressure.
The study was published in the journal SAGE Open.
