Aam Aadmi Party's Gokalpur MLA Fateh Singh was on Wednesday named as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly.
Singh, who is a former BJP MLA and deputy speaker of Delhi Assembly, had joined the AAP in December last year.
He defeated BJP leader Ranjeet Singh by a margin of over 30,000 votes in the recently-held Delhi Assembly elections.
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vijender Kumar Gupta was chosen as the Leader of Opposition by his party.
The BJP suffered a rout in the assembly polls, with only three of its candidates securing a seat.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 67 out of the 70 seats on offer in the Delhi polls, becoming the first non-Congress and non-BJP party to rule the city.
The first session of the Delhi Assembly begins on Monday.
