AAP's Manish Sisodia moves trust motion in Delhi assembly

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday moved a vote of confidence motion in the Delhi Assembly.

"I hope the respected members rise above their differences and give a verdict in favour of the people of Delhi," Sisodia said.

"Our government wants the common man to be able to use school and hospitals without any recommendations. We want to give recognition to the farmers of Delhi," he added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier said his party was not afraid of a floor test in the assembly that would determine whether or not the AAP government enjoys majority support.

"The common man trusts us. They have their trust on this government. With the work which we have done in the past few days; they have understood that we can govern," Kejriwal earlier claimed.

"We are not scared of anything; I am not here to get power," he added.

The AAP, which emerged as the second largest party in the election with 28 MLAs, requires the support of eight more MLAs to cross the half way mark of the 70-Member Delhi Assembly.

Delhi Pradesh Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely had earlier said that his party stands by its earlier decision of extending outside support to the Aam Aadmi Party.

On the other hand, the lone MLA of JDU has already announced extending support to the AAP Government.

In the newly elected assembly, BJP with its ally Akali Dal has 32 MLA's, the Congress eight and one independent member.

The Delhi Assembly yesterday completed the formality of oath taking by members, including the Chief Minister and other ministers, with senior Congress member Mateen Ahmed functioning as pro-tem Speaker.
