The girlfriend of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez is reportedly planning to seek dismissal of a perjury charge that she is faces in connection with the murder case against the former New England Patriots tight end.

Hernandez, who was taken into custody in June last year, has been under investigation in connection with the death of a semi-professional footballer Odin Lloyd, who was found slain roughly a mile away from Hernandez's home.

According to CBS News, Janice Bassil, the lawyer of Hernandez's girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins, said that she intends to file motions to dismiss the charge brought against her client as she does not see any evidence supporting the charges against Jenkins.

Jenkins, who has pleaded not guilty to a count of perjury before the grand jury that indicted Hernandez last year and is free on personal recognizance, had according to prosecutors repeatedly lied in testimony last summer, including about getting rid of a box from the basement of her and Hernandez's home at his request.

Prosecutors have also said that most of Jenkins' testimony was 'not credible' and that she aimed to 'protect, to cover up and to assist in keeping evidence from the prosecution's reaches', however, Basil asked the judge for more time to review discovery materials in the case, which the judge allowed.

Jenkins has a 1-year-old daughter with Hernandez, the report added.
