After making it to the headlines for a number of days owing to the standoff with the CBFC, 'Udta Punjab', a film highlighting the rampant drug menace and its impact on the youth in Punjab, will finally hit the screens today.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had yesterday dismissed two petitions filed against the movie which was caught in censorship row.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had declined the plea filed by an NGO to stay the release of the movie.
The apex court had asked the petitioner to approach Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The NGO had moved the apex court on Wednesday challenging the Bombay High Court order on the film.
The Bombay High Court had on June 13 cleared the release of ' Udta Punjab', whose makers were locked in a dispute with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The CBFC had issued a fresh release certificate to ' Udta Punjab' after the Bombay High Court passed the film with just one cut and three disclaimers.
'Udta Punjab', the movie which stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead role, has been passed with A certificate.
