Even as a case was registered against Ashish Khetan for comparing the party's manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday said it would lodge a separate complaint against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for "hurting" Sikh religious sentiments.

Speaking to ANI, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said, "The remark was very derogatory and people are hurt by it. We will be registering a case against the AAP leaders who are responsible for hurting Sikh sentiments."

As per reports, Makkar said by using a picture of a broom (AAP's poll symbol) along with the Golden Temple on its manifesto the party has hurt sentiments of the Sikhs.

The Punjab Police had on Thursday booked Khetan for hurting religious sentiments.

Khetan on Wednesday came out with a strong apology to douse the raging issue and salvage the party's reputation ahead of the state assembly polls.

Khetan went to the extent of saying that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-led Government in Punjab can mete out any punishment to him, if not satisfied with his apology.

The AAP manifesto booklet used an image of the Sikh shrine Golden Temple along with Arvind Kejriwal and AAP's election symbol 'the broom', which has provoked various Sikh groups.

The party also apologised for the picture of its symbol, alongside the image of the Darbar Sahib on its manifesto.
