Ahead of Independence Day, Delhi to face traffic restrictions on Aug 13

On the occasion of Independence Day function at the Red Fort and on its full dress rehearsal day on August 13, traffic restrictions will be enforced in Delhi as half a dozen roads will be closed along with some diversions.

The affected stretches of six roads - Netaji Subhash Margh, Lothian Road, S P Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg and Esplanade Road - and its Link Road will be closed for general public from 5 am to 9 am on both the days, said Joint CP (Traffic) Garima Bhatnagar.

Vehicles without parking labels for the rehearsal need to avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge and take alternative route.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened across the nation especially the nation capital ahead of Independence Day, as vehicles are being thoroughly checked at every entry point.
