United States Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Saturday that Washington would be looking for new ways to complement India's 'Act East' policy.
Addressing Shangri-La Dialogue plenary session delegates here ahead of his visit to India to take part in the 2015 U.S.-India Defense Framework negotiations and agreement next week, Carter said he will be looking for ways to enhance maritime security to aircraft carrier and jet engine technology cooperation.
Carter also revealed that he would be undertaking a tour of India's Eastern Naval Command at Vizag and would be meeting his Indian counterpart Manohar Parrikar to take bilateral military cooperation between the two countries to the next level over the next decade.
Carter further said that trilateral exercise involving Japan, India and the United States were aimed at learning lessons on disaster responses, besides building on greater maritime security cooperation.
