#AIFW17: Samant Chauhan makes us nostalgic on Day 2

On the second day of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017, designer Samant Chauhan brought back childhood memories by showcasing his collection at the National Rail Museum. The highlight was creations in Muga silk.

"It's about my journey of railway," said Samant who chose this offsite location to pay homepage to his hometown Jamalpur. The designer fulfilled his lifelong ambition of creating a collection around locomotives.

An initiative to promote 'The Golden Threads of Assam' venture, Samant intended to preserve the royal silk Muga, also known as the 'Queen of Textiles', and helping all the weavers and rearers of this silk to maintain their unique identity.

Talking about his inspiration, Samant said, "Everything in this collection can be traced to what I saw from the windows when I used to travel. I have derived the motif from there, from my memory."

The four-day fashion extravaganza that ends on March 18, is being held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.
