The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday denied that there was any pressure on Dr. Sudhir Gupta, who had conducted the autopsy of Sunanda Pushkar, to present a doctored post mortem report.
"These allegations are baseless. Dr. Sudhir Gupta and his team had no pressure to change postmortem report," said Dr. Amit Gupta, AIIMS Public Relations Officer.
Dr.Neerja Bhatla, AIIMS, said, "The AIIMS categorically denies any such allegations. There was no pressure on Dr.Sudhir Gupta."
"As far as we know, there is absolutely no evidence that Sunanda Pushkar's post-mortem report was manipulated," added Bhatla.
On Dr. Sudhir Gupta's allegation alleged of a 'malaise agenda' to remove him from the post of Head of Department for his 'honest and ethical stand', Dr. Gupta said there has been no talks on his removal from his post and he is still the head of the forensics department.
According to media reports, Dr. Sudhir Gupta had alleged that he was pressurized to give a doctored report in Pushkar's death case.
Gupta headed the team of experts who conducted the postmortem on Pushkar's body. He has alleged in his complaint to the Health Ministry and the Chief Vigilance Commission (CVC) that he was pressured by top officials to show that Pushkar's death was 'natural'.
Gupta claimed that he did not bow to the pressure and stated in his report that Pushkar died due to drug poisoning, which could be 'suicidal or homicidal'.
