Dozens of inmates were killed in a pair of airstrikes targeting a Yemeni prison off the nation's west coast on Saturday, Houthi-controlled Defense Ministry said.
According to the country's Defense Ministry, at least 43 inmates were killed in the airstrikes targeting the port city of Hodieda.
It said the death toll is likely to rise once bodies are pulled from the rubble, reports CNN.
The airstrikes come following last week's 72-hour "cessation of hostilities" between a pro-Yemeni coalition led by Saudi forces and Houthi rebels.
Peace talks had failed in August, prompting an increase in airstrikes over the past two months.
US Secretary of State John Kerry earlier this month had called for all sides to "move to the negotiating table" after diplomatic talks in London.
Saudi-led coalition has been blamed by the Defense Military for the airstrikes.
The Houthi rebels claim that hundreds of inmates have been killed in this airstrikes.
However, it has not yet been confirmed by the Saudi-led coalition if they launched any operations in the area yesterday.
